XP Filter-fucking-keys
Arrrgh! This is so irritating! Somebody shoot that fucking moron at M$ who is responsible of the Filterkeys function! Every time you press the shift key for more than 8 seconds, this dialog window pops up and ask you if you want to turn on Filterkeys. If you click ok, nothing works; if you click no, then shift is stuck. Either way you're fucked! What kind of accessibility option is that if it makes your keyboard inaccessible?!
That shit just happened to me AGAIN. While I was working on the ASA website, I pressed shift for more than 8 seconds while I was thinking. Then the notorious pop-up appeared and my keyboard was all fucked up. I went thought all the options in Accessibility Options in Control Panel, but nope, no luck. So I rebooted. Out of irritation, I googled (shoulda done this a million years ago) and found a solution. *** Hold down both shift keys at the same time *** and your keyboard is back in normal. Well, this sounds like some kind of cheat code of some old-school Nintendo game, doesn't it. Anyway, praise the lord and may that retard be condemned to hell!

Desolate
Sigh, looks like it's gonna be a lonely weekend.
Shiho went to the city to meet up with her friends from Japan. She just called me and said she hasn't met them for two years. Hmm, I guess that mean Raira(sp?) because she saw Rika this summer. Anyway, my baby sounded pretty excited and I'm glad to hear that. I can't wait to go to the city with her before we go back to Taiwan and Japan. Oh, and Florida too! It's only two weeks or so away, woohoo!
Chris left for Ohio for his cousin's 21 birthday. I used my credit card to cover the rental because he couldn't swallow the 300 houndred dollars deposit. The camery he got looked really nice. I gotta get myself one of those when I get out of school.
Well, since it's gonna be a quite week, might as well do some studying. Or read the new book I bought, What do you care what other people think?. Looks like a pretty interesting read.

Work at Cooper Gym
Woohoo! I've got a job at Cooper Gym!
Tonight when we were about to leaving the dining hall, my buddy at the gym Denar(sp?) stopped me and asked me if I want a job or not. I asked him what is it and he said he's the coordinator and his boss told me to look out for someone who might be interested because there was an opening. Then he thought of me because I am at the gym almost everyday. Well, 5 days a week to be exact. I take two days off every week, not even doing cardio. This is so great! I know the pay is not much, any on-campus doesn't bring you a fat paycheck anyway. This is what I've always wanted to do, to work at the gym. Why? Because it excites me everytime I go work out and I like the gym a lot. Besides, people who work there are also into working out as well and there are lots of hot girls over there. Guys with good physique are good to look at too. No, not becasue I'm gay, but because seeing someone in a great shape motivates to work out even harder. I can also observe what their routines are so that I can learn something. I want to start as soon as possible!
While browsing Ars Forum tonight, I came across a nice thread and found out about GNU Win32. This project ported many useful commands of Unix to the Windows platform. Nice!

AI1
I had a great class this afternoon.
I'm taking CSC416, Foundations of Artificial Intelligence, this semester. Up untill now, the only thing we had been doing was learning LISP and writing programs using one of it's variant, Common LISP. Yes, from the lectures we knew that LISP is popular language for artificial intelligence research. But other than that, we didn't talk about AI all that much. But last class, Graci showed us Grundy's Game, and talke about state space interpretation of game playing and game trees. Things started to get interesting. Then in today's class, we played Reversi, or sometimes called Othello, which is a strategy game taking place on a 8 by 8 grid with two players represented by two different colors. Player make their moves by putting a piece that will out-flank the opponent's pieces. To win the game you have to have pieces of your color than your opponent's when the game ends (no empty cell left). It is simple yet heavily stragety-involved. Graci used this game to talk about static value function and look-ahead tree/heuristic. This sounds like what those AI programs in computer games are doing. It's so interesting! And the game, Reversi, itself is very intriguing as well. Even though it sounded like a real tough job when he said we're gonna write a program of Reversi as a final project, I was still happy that I can take a class like this. Graci might not be the most interseting person in the world, but he is a true geek, and I say it in a good way, and he knows how to teach. Just like Mohammadi, he is one of my favorite professors here in OSU. I'm thinking about taking AI2 next semester. Hmm... I should talk to my adviser, Odendahl, soon.

Risk milestone 1
Dang it, we're supposed to either demo in class our Risk project or hand in the source code today. But we're far from delivering a workable program. Fvck!
I've found a open-sourced Java based Risk online. I'll have to study the code and see when I can learn from it. Can't go on like this anymore. I want to at least be able to write a functional program before I get out of Oswego.

ASA Halloween Party
Yesterday was the second Halloween I had in the U.S. As one of the E-Board members of ASA, I had to help decoration and do shifts while the party was on-going.
There weren't a lot of people in the party. It's a shame because we put in quite some time and manpower. Well, at least I had a good time with my cutie witch.

ROFLMAO!!! A must hear if you understand Taiwanese.
感覺真正不錯 feel all right
全部都在討論"hey~do you see that?"
<副歌>
This is not my day
This is not my day
NO.1 I say...
<副歌>

Somebody tell me why~~~
Every morning
This is not my day
(架夭壽~架夭壽~架夭壽.....to the end)
yeah...

Nuthouse
The girls want to go hang out at the Slu... I mean Nuthouse tonight. Since Shiho is going I'm tagging alone. Don't really feel like drinking tonight though. I stayed up till 3:30 last night studying for today's 365 exam. Only five questions! I think I did a good job, but nothing is sure until written in black and white. So we'll see.
Helped Alison with her computer problem tonight. It was merely a driver problem. The NForce2 MCP network driver wasn't installed at all so she couldn't get online. I thought it was some freaky problem. Thank gawd a simple driver update solved everything. Wow, imagine this, how nice it would be if I get paid for doing this kind of thing :D.
Alright, it's almost time. Better go dress up to spread my charm!

No class!
What a unexpected surprise, didn't have class at all today.
380, the dreadful 8 o'clock class, was called off before hand and Rob and I were cheering already. Then this afternoon, on my way to Snygg, I met Shavant and he told me AI class was cancelled, for some unknown reason. Woohoo! Actually, I was kinda looking forward to the website review "show", but nothing beats not having to go to class.
Went to Caribbean Student Association general meeting tonight, they had a dance workshop. I didn't dance but it was still fun watching them dancing. Those black girls have some nice booties and really know how to work them!
In Asian Student Association E-Board meeting we talked about Halloween party again. We're gonna hold it in Time Pieces again. I hope that it would be better than last year. Shizuka-chan says she wants to be a witch and I should be Hamutaro(sp?). Ha, now that would be a funny sight.
Gotta go ask Zhibo to borrow his PS2 and DDR mats. Should be a fun event to attract lots of people to come to ASA meeting.

Risk Project
Had a group meeting with Rob and Tarik this afternoon for about 3 hours. It was more of a get-together-so-everyone-would-sit-his-ass-down-and-do-some-coding than a actul meeting. Anyway, we finally have a somewhat working Risk game. I know too little to produce a nice looking and functional GUI so I'll have to look for online tutorial and learn some shit.
Gonna call Alison and go check her computer up. Would I ever get paid for doing these thing?

Somebody shoot me
I thought I was able to refrain myself from doing a overhaul reinstallation before weekend comes. Apparently I was wrong.
I wanted to at least finish my 365 assignment 1 before I started doing this but my itchy fingers just wouldn't settle down. Now I'm sitting with a newly reinstalled, beautifully working computer with all the bells and whistles turned on. Yet the damn project is only halfway done. Well, I'm not really worring about it to tell the truth. It's pretty easy and I still have all the notes from Mohammadi's class and the text that I can reference. These are much more useful and correct than what that woman has been teaching in class. Her class is such a waste of time. Sometimes I get the feeling that she doesn't even know what she's talking about. I don't wanna waste my time for this, dammit!
Oh, note to self. Switch to SATA Only in BIOS before using Ghost 8 (Ghost 9 is a bloated piece of shit with some nice new features that I don't wanna take advantage of). After ghosting, switch back to Enhanced mode and change the HD boot order. All these are for Abit IC7-G, or might apply to all other mb's.
Alright, time to study Japanese a little bit. Will be going to Carousel Mall after this class with Shiho. Hopefully we'll be back before 6 so I can eat and then go work out. Never skip Bi's and Tri's workout!

Tired as hell
Being working on my Lsip programming assignment for several hours. And I still can't get it to work. This Missionaries and Cannibals puzzle is killing me! Somebody shoot me please. I can hardly keep my eyes open now. Gotta go sleep and hope that I can get up in time for the 8 o'clock class.
Oh, even though I've got a shit load of work I still "managed" to set up the new hard drive. Spent a good hour figuring out why it wouldn't be recognized. The cause? Overclocking. Screw this crap, why does it have to do with overclocking? Anyway, I've got it all partitioned up and am going to do a clean install of XP this weekend.
Time to join my sweetie in my cozy bed. ChiMan out!

Here it goes
First blog, ever!
Well, don't know long I will last, since the only time I had ever kept a journal was when I was in the Navy. Wow, those were hard but "interesting" times. Gotta remember to dig out that journal when I go back to Taiwan this winter.
My lavish Hitachi 160G SATA HD is coming today. I'm going to use it as my primary dirve; one of the 80G's will serve as download storage; and the other 80G will be Linux only.
My last experience with Debian was fun and educating but didn't come out good. I forget what I did but I couldn't get into X anymore. So I'm gonna do a reinstall. My hardware configuration changed afterwards anyway. This time, I think I'm going to try Ubuntu Linux which is a Debian based distro. Their 4.10 preview release got a lot of praises and it's Gnome centered (for now at any rate) which pleases me. Gnome's Mac-like feel is slick and professional.
Alright, I guess it's enough for now. Gonna go wash up and look through my note one last time for MAT230 then do the JPN101 handout now. More to come later, maybe.
P.S. Wow, NewEgg just raised the price of the HD I bought. It was 91 when I placed my order and now it's 99. Gawd Damn!
